The Big Horn Basin is a big place , a broad, high desert valley ringed by the Absaroka, Beartooth, Pryor, Bighorn and Owl Creek mountains, drained by the Bighorn and Shoshone rivers, and dotted with the towns that grew up around irrigation and agriculture.
